ABG and subsidiaries win global awards

MANAMA: Bahrain-based Islamic bank Al Baraka Banking Group (ABG) and four of its subsidiary banking units have received Global Finance magazine’s Best Islamic Financial Institution Award of 2017.

While ABG won the Best Islamic Financial Institution in the Middle East and North Africa Award, Al Baraka Islamic Bank Bahrain bagged the Best Islamic Financial Institution in Bahrain Award, Jordan Islamic Bank received the Best Islamic Financial Institution in Jordan Award, Al Baraka Bank Algeria snagged the Best Islamic Financial Institution in Algeria, and Al Baraka Bank South Africa got the Best Islamic Financial Institution in South Africa” Award.

The fifth successive annual wins for ABG and its subsidiaries were for “their prominent role in the Islamic banking sector, their ability to achieve consistent growth in the future and meeting professional standards in terms of the quality of products and services offered to clients, as well as for their originality and innovation in services and customer service, continued development and innovation in banking operations and other important criteria such as strategic relationships, geographic reach, profitability and robustness of financial position,” said a statement.

ABG president and chief executive Adnan Yousif received the awards on behalf of the group in a ceremony held during the IMF World Bank annual meetings in Washington DC.
