Provocative video case referred to Public Prosecution
A probe committee has referred the case of a provocative video filmed on the grounds of the country’s main stadium to the Public Prosecution.
The Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry investigated the footage, which caused uproar on social media yesterday, following directives from Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The minute-long video shows two cheerleaders posing provocatively while holding an energy drink in Bahrain National Stadium.
“The video was filmed by a group during a sports event hosted by a private company at Bahrain National Stadium,” said the ministry in a statement issued today.
“The ministry formed a probe committee that has gathered all information regarding the incident.
“The ministry has informed the Public Prosecution of the incident as the filming of the video violates a number of Bahrainis laws, including using the establishment for purposes not agreed upon.
“Additionally, the ministry has handed over all the information which it gathered to the Public Prosecution.
“The ministry has asked the Prosecution to take necessary legal action in this regard as it strongly rejects the actions of the company which clearly violated the agreement of the use of the sports facility in a video that goes against public values and is something that is rejected by the Bahraini society.”
