Keller Grundbau GmbH is a well-recognised name throughout the Bahrain construction industry since its inception here in 1973.
The international geotechnical contractors have completed more than 1,200 jobs in Bahrain over the past 45 years and specialised in piling and ground improvement works.
From its origin in 1860 to the present day, Keller has above all been built on two principles – engineering excellence and a commitment to continuous innovation.
Keller’s business is the solution of soil and foundation problems for the construction industry.
From operating centres in all five continents, Keller has proved its capability in virtually every country in the world.
“Keller’s strength lies in its deep experience, local focus, value engineering, widest range of technologies and organic and acquisition growth,” said Keller Grundbau branch manager Jeyaprakash Elango who has worked with the company since 2003.
“The geotechnical solutions we provide are backed by extensive experience gained by technology transfer from operations in Europe, North America and Australia.”
Keller Grundbau Saudi Arabia and Bahrain general manager Muhammad Ali who has worked with the company since 2000 added that Keller is working with high safety standards and delivers large value projects on time, with current ongoing major piling projects like Bahrain Airport Modernisation and Marassi Al Bahrain.
Keller is renowned for providing innovative and cost effective solutions to ground engineering and foundation problems.
It is the solution of soil and foundation problems using bored cast-in-situ piling, mini piles, bored and soldier pile walls, ground improvement with Vibro techniques – dry and wet method, dewatering, grouting, soil/rock anchors and many more.
Keller is also a specialist in the protection of soils and ground water from environmental damage.
Mr Elango pointed out that Keller is the first and only company to introduce to Bahrain the bottom feed (dry) method for ground improvement by Vibro techniques using a purpose-built Vibrocat which is a very successful piece of equipment.
The dry method uses air instead of water avoiding any environmental problems and is used in environmental protection by avoiding disposal of mud and waste.
The dry method system for ground improvement is widely used in many projects in Bahrain such as Bahrain International Airport expansion, Hotel Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa, Khalifa Bin Salman port at Hidd, PWC facilities at Hidd, Oriental Press at Hidd, Al Ezzel Power Plant in Hidd, Stainless Steel Mill plant and ground storage tanks at various locations as well as residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Keller-Bahrain has successfully implemented and received the Integrated Management System (IMS) certification from TUV-Nord.
With a Germany-based head office, Keller Bahrain has strong support with respect to equipment and techniques.
“Our team of engineers and employees hold extensive experience in Bahrain and the GCC countries,” said Mr Elango.
“Keller’s design team is always ready to assist clients in formulating technically sound and cost effective solutions to foundation engineering problems.”
