AL HALA and Al Ettihad registered contrasting victories last night during the eighth week of play in the Zain Bahrain Basketball League.
Hala thrashed Al Hidd 102-55 while Ettihad defeated Bahrain Club 58-51.
Both games were played at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam.
In Hala’s win, the victors were on fire to begin the contest as they scored an impressive 41 points in the first quarter alone. They continued their onslaught in second period where they built a massive 69-21 lead heading into the interval.
Hala cruised in the second half and were well deserving of their big 47-point triumph.
Ahmed Jamal was the top Bahraini scorer for Hala, finishing with 24 markers. He buried four three-pointers in the game and also dished out three assists.
Heroics
Hasan Gerashi contributed 17 points, Mohammed Salah had 14 and Mohammed Salman finished with 10 and 11 rebounds. Court general Hussain Salman had 10 assists in the contest to go with four steals.
Hidd had no players finish in double-figures but Ashraf Moaweya and Ali Alnajjar had eighth points apiece in the loss.
Also yesterday, Ettihad closed out strong in their game against Bahrain Club, turning a 39-41 deficit heading into the final quarter into a fine seven-point victory.
Sayed Mohammed Hameed spearheaded Ettihad in the win, scoring 21 points including three baskets from beyond the arc. Professional Antwan Wilkerson also had a big game with 18 points and 19 rebounds.
Merrill Holden was the main man for Bahrain Club, finishing the game with a monster double-double of 25 points and 20 rebounds.
