Katara cultural village has signed an agreement with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), a leading exploration company in the sultanate, to build a planetarium in Qatar.
As per the MoU, the duo will also set up a first-of-its-kind observatory in the country, reported The Gulf Times.
This agreement is a significant step in the co-operation, exchange of experiences, workshops and training between the two parties in the astronomy field, stated the report.
In 2000, PDO had built the sultanate’s first planetarium as an annex to the Oil and Gas Exhibition Centre as a gift to the Omani nation.
Under this deal, PDO will train some employees from Katara on relevant aspects regarding the facility in Oman, it added.
