THREE British military veterans arrive in Bahrain tonight to take part in Remembrance Day events.

Chelsea Pensioners Sergeant Michael Allen, Warrant Officer (class 2) John Carbis and Warrant Officer (class1) Carl Hayhurst are guests of the Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF).

During their week-long trip they will visit schools, attend British Embassy functions, lay a wreath at a memorial service and will be guests of honour at the annual Poppy Ball.

The war heroes will attend a lunch tomorrow at the Dilmun Club, Saar and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Old Christian Cemetery on Saturday before attending a lunch in the British Embassy gardens.

On Sunday, the veterans will take part in a Remembrance Day service at St Christopher’s Cathedral, Manama.

They will be VIP guests of honour at the annual Poppy Ball organised by the BBBF at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa next Thursday.

The event is one of the highlights of Bahrain’s annual social calendar and is held in collaboration with the British Business Association from the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

The former servicemen will be in Bahrain until November 17 and will also be treated to a Fish and Chips Supper at the British Club in Adliya, dinner at Bahrain Rugby Football Club, Saar and lunch at the Capital Club, Bahrain Financial Harbour.

They will also visit the British School of Bahrain, St Christopher’s Junior School and Nadeen School, Manama.

Prior to their departure, the serviceman will also visit the Manama Suq.
