LONG-TIME Bahrain resident David Ryan died in Dublin on Tuesday.
He was 74. The entrepreneur and Bahrain Rugby Football Club (BRFC) stalwart, who lived in the kingdom for 25 years, was well known in the community.
He worked in several positions at Bahrain International Airport and helped attract new airlines during his tenure.
He was also chairman of BRFC in 1996-97 and again in 1997-98.
In a notice yesterday the club praised Mr Ryan’s efforts.
“In his home town of Skerries, as well as in Bahrain, generations of people benefited from David’s efforts in making it possible for participation in cricket, rugby and netball regardless of age or ability,” it said.
His wife Mary worked at St Christopher’s School for several years and later joined the British School of Bahrain.
The couple have two children, Miriam and Richard.
