A MARRIED man, who posed as an intelligence agent in an attempt to molest a Saudi teenager, has been jailed for three years.
The 42-year-old Bahraini was convicted by the High Criminal Court yesterday of forgery, trespassing and posing as a policeman with the intention of sexually assaulting women.
He obtained a fake ID featuring an Interior Ministry emblem and his picture, which he got laminated at a shop, and lured the Saudi teenager into his car by posing as an agent.
The defendant, who has 12 previous convictions including fraud and molestation, previously denied the charges.
Police arrested him after he allegedly lured the Saudi woman into his car on the pretext of needing to see her passport.
She said she was terrified as he drove her through Manama, apparently trying to lose her friends who were following them.
Despite pleading not guilty the defendant admitted to prosecutors that he posed as an intelligence officer to pick up women, but denied planning to rape them.
