A SECURITY guard who smuggled thousands of dinars worth of drugs into Bahrain has been jailed for 10 years and fined BD5,000.
The 29-year-old Bahraini was arrested when he tried to smuggle six capsules of heroin across King Fahad Causeway.
A K9 unit detected the narcotics, which were hidden behind the steering wheel.
The capsules containing 23gm of heroin had a street value of more than BD3,000.
He was sentenced to 10 years in jail by the High Criminal Court after being found guilty of attempted smuggling.
However, his co-defendant from Pakistan was found not guilty due to lack of evidence.
The Pakistani defendant denied any knowledge of the drugs.
