The blast at an oil pipeline on Friday night was caused intentionally, the Interior Ministry said on its Twitter account today.
Investigations are continuing to identify the culprits and bring them to justice, it added.
“The recent acts of terror in the country are carried through direct contacts and instructions from Iran,” said Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
“The security and safety of citizens and residents is a top priority, and the Interior Ministry is sparing no effort to maintain security and protect public safety,” he said.
Witnesses said the explosion happened at around 10pm near a bus station and around 100 metres from Al Amal Hospital in Buri.
Hundreds of people were evacuated from a hospital and homes in the village, as firemen battled the flames for hours and police closed off the area, resulting in tailbacks on major highways until past midnight.
"The incident is an act of sabotage, a dangerous act of terrorism aimed at harming the interests of the nation and safety of the people."
