VIVA Bahrain will be the telecommunications sponsor of Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain, to be held on November 25.
The sponsorship came through VIVA Jusoor, the company’s corporate social responsibility programme, emphasising the company’s commitment to the development of local sports.
The championship will witness three races – swimming, cycling and running – with the racetrack passing by several tourist and historic attractions in the kingdom such as Bahrain Bay, World Trade Centre, Bahrain Financial Harbour, Bahrain International Circuit and Al Areen Park.
VIVA Bahrain Government Affairs head Shaikh Ziyad Bin Faisal Al Khalifa said: “Community support has long been a cornerstone of our business and we are proud to continue taking great strides in this direction through this sponsorship.”
Bahrain Events Company board member Amal Al Murbati said: “We are very excited about this partnership and believe it to be the beginning of a fruitful relationship.”
The sponsorship is part of a series of sports initiatives that VIVA Bahrain has focused on since the start of this year after supporting the first professional cycling team in the Middle East, the Bahrain-Merida Pro Cycling Team, the Color ME Bahrain marathon and Rashid Equestrian Club.
The Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain will offer 40 spots to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship to be held in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa and 10 military spots for the 2018 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
