Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF) honorary president and chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for Brave International Combat Week and fourth edition of Mixed Martial Arts World Championship Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa has lauded the exceptional skills of Bahrain’s fighters at the ninth Brave International Combat Week.
Praising the quality of the fighters’ performances, Shaikh Nasser said, “They are champions and courageous in every sense. Hussein Ayyad displayed a wonderful level of competence and fought valiantly while representing the kingdom.”
Shaikh Khalid also praised the achievements of Hamza Mohammedov and Murtadha Ali who have reached the final round. “They were able to control the fights and were able to read the opponent correctly and identify vulnerabilities,” he said.
“We are very confident in our national team to continue their high level in the finals, and everyone is looking forward to making every effort to fight for the title,” said Shaikh Khalid.
Shaikh Khalid said the congress and the general assembly held yesterday would be very influential and decisive in the history of mixed martial arts given the important points discussed.
“We in the Kingdom of Bahrain are proud to host the meeting of the general assembly of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, which is in line with the directives of the wise leadership in making Bahrain a destination for all international sports, he said.
He added: “Bahrain’s hosting of the congress goes in line with the directives of His Majesty the King’s representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to host various international events. The congress will attract elite leaders in the game of martial arts worldwide and will draw international media and would put the kingdom in the spotlight.”
Shaikh Khalid witnessed the weighing in of the participants at the BRAVE International Combat Week at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in the presence Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa and a number of international film stars and mixed martial artists.
Shaikh Khalid spoke with a number of fighters participating in the championship and praised the organising committee for the weighing in the fighters in a proper manner and in accordance with the laws and regulations.
He conveyed his wishes to the fighters and expressed hope that they would abide by fair play.
Meanwhile, Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation president Colonel Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayat expressed his thanks and appreciation to Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, for support to the success to the championship. He also thanked the minister for the support to the players, especially Fatima Al Burshaid. Fatima’s colleagues from the Ministry of the Interior were present in large number to encourage and support her during her bout.
The competitions witnessed a good public presence and the number has been increasing by the day. The interaction of the audience with Bahrain’s fighters was a real encouragement.
