COLOGNE: Iran’s opposition groups and parties abroad have set up a coalition with the aim of toppling the “authoritarian regime” in their country and establish a federal multi-party democracy there.
The Iranian Democrats Council was set up yesterday at a conference in the German city of Cologne, according to a report in our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
The only way out of the crisis today is to topple the political regime of the Iranian Islamic Republic, which requires unity of all democratic and secular forces, according to a statement issued after the conference. The statement noted that “the structure of the theocratic regime in Tehran can’t be changed after four decades of despotic and sectarian rule based on suppression and discrimination against people and adventures at the international level”.
