Projects blow to local firms

Bahrain News

Ninety per cent of major government projects are awarded to foreign engineering firms, leaving local offices with only 10pc of the projects, said Bahrain Consulting Engineers Society president Mazin Al Omran.

International engineering offices represent the main challenge facing local firms, he said.

There are 70 foreign engineering offices (Category A) operating in Bahrain against 39 local ones, he pointed out.

Also, the number of foreign engineers in private companies has reached 3,000 since Bahraini engineers prefer working in the government sector, he added, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
