The authorities in Kuwait seized six kilogrammes of fake gold jewellery valued at KD80,000 (US$261,000), according to Al Qabas newspaper.
The fake gold was seized from different locations at Al Mbarkiya and Al Rai districts and the suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution.
“The confiscated jewellery, which is a duplication of international brands, is stuffed with non-precious substances in order to increase the weight,” said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The shops sold the fake jewellery as pure gold goods to make profits illegally, a ministry source said.
