Manama FC beat KMCC 2-1 in a thrilling seniors’ (above-18) football final of the Indian Club Indian A&E Hockey/Football Championship.
Sangam scored the fastest opener, in 15 seconds, for Manama but Arun netted the equaliser in the second half. KMCC’s excitement was short-lived as Sangam, the tournament’s best player, scored a brilliant winner to help Manama clinch the title.
In the under-18 final, Galatrazy FC beat Ford Riffa 3-1. Amin scored two goals and Nisham netted one for the winners while Clyrin scored the lone goal for Ford Riffa.
In under-14, Shahabaz scored as Al Zad FC beat Hazaz AL CF 1-0.
In the hockey final, Young Stars ‘A’ won 1-0 against Ministry of Interior. The only goal of the match was scored by Mudassar.
Brendan Saptel of Aces FC won the under-14 individual trophy for the best upcoming player while Mubashir of Al Zad FC was judged as the skilful player. Aaron Martins was chosen as the most talented player.
In the under-18 section, Faris of Galatrazy was chosen as the player of the U18 tournament while Salman was judged as the best motivated player.
In the seniors (above-18) section, Sangam (Manama FC) was judged as the player of the tournament.
Lifetime achievement awards were presented to Gerard Fernandes of Young Goans Club, Alex Pereira, Victor D’souza, Vincent D’costa, Jameel and Hassan of Ministry of Interior.
A total of 35 teams took part in the football tournament while six teams played in the hockey event which was played on a league basis.
