A new board for the 2017-2020 electoral term has been elected at the 10th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Turki Al Shaikh, chairman of the General Sports Authority and president of the National Olympic Committee in Saudi Arabia, was elected uncontested as ISSF president.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar headed the Bahrain side for the meeting, in which a full report on the federation activities was reviewed.
Among other subjects discussed were the formation of a polling committee as well as approval of the previous general assembly report and a presentation of Islamic countries’ sports development strategy.

The federation also brought up a report submitted by the organising committee of the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, in addition to the financial report and plan of the federation over the next two years.
The General Assembly meeting is expected to endorse the minutes of the 9th GA along with the Board’s Report for the period 2013-2017.
