Fri, 01 Dec 2017

The stage is set for Bahrain Women’s Day Sportsfest 2017 which will be held today at Um Al Hassam Sports Complex.

The event is being organised by ‘Out of the Box’ under the patronage of Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, board member of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and chairwoman of Women’s Sport Committee.

On-court action will see eight women’s futsal teams battling it out on the five-a-side court and more than 20 women’s basketball teams looking to shoot the hoops to 3-on-3 glory. Off-court there will be a number of family activities – art and craft displays, music, kids’ events and food stalls.

The futsal tournament gets underway at 9.30am with the 3-on-3 basketball competition tipping off at 2.30pm. The awards ceremony for both competitions begins at 7pm.

Entry is free and all are welcome to join in what will hopefully be a fun day for everyone.

Meanwhile, general coordinator Mamoon Al Khateeb said the BOC and ‘Out of the Box’ have completed all arrangements prior to the event’s kick-off and thanked the committee for supporting the festival.

The sportsfest is being staged in association with Lulu Hypermarkets, powered by Four Square and supported by Kotex, Kewalram, The House of Fragrance, Coca Cola, Middle East Hospital, OSN, The Gatsby Beauty Lounge, Matha Advertising Company, Vitaene, Subway and Haribo.
