A packaged programme featuring sports and entertainment activities to be organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) will mark the Kingdom of Bahrain’s celebration of National Day on Dec. 16-17.
Fourteen national sports federations are putting the final touches on its respective events to be staged simultaneously between December 8 and 23.
Federations involved in the upcoming festivities will bring variety of sports competitions, such as endurance race, showjumping, mini volleyball, gold, marathon, sports for people with disabilities, chess, checkers, bridge, shooting and archery, billiards and snooker, bowling, tennis, 3-on-3 women basketball, athletics for children, squash, badminton, gymnastics and swimming.
The venues have also been confirmed, including the Bahrain International Endurance Village, the Bahrain Military Sports Federation, Royal Golf Club, Bahrain Sports Federation for People with Disabilities, Cue-In Gym, Funland Bowling Centre, Polytechnic University, Bahrain Basketball Association hall and Khalifa Sports City Stadium.
BOC Sports Associations executive director Abduljalil Asad said the committee is working hand in hand with all national sports federation to prepare for the festivities, which are in line with their plan to maintain a solid social partnership with the government and private sectors and celebrate this special event.
Asad said these activities have been planned as per directives of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President, to celebrate this cherished occasion of the Bahraini people.
