A BD4 million project to renovate and upgrade roads in Saar is being discussed.

Northern Governor Ali Al Asfoor met members of a co-ordination committee to follow up on several projects, including Karanah coast and the industrial area in Salambad, and to discuss development projects in Saar.

“The project which will hopefully begin in the second quarter of next year will turn Saar road from a single road to a double for 3km and five intersections, while car parks and street lights will be established,” said Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry road design head Maha Hamada during the meeting.

“Five traffic lights will be installed as well as safety barriers, with the total cost of the project being about BD4m, along with seven public transportation stations will be established as well as two drainage networks with ground channels for future use.”

As for Karanah, what amounted to eight trucks worth of garbage bags was cleared out from the coast and 15 cement benches were set up with warning signs installed along the coast.

l The left and middle lanes on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway for westward traffic leading to Mina Salman will be closed for resurfacing work. They will be closed from 11pm today until 5am on Saturday. The left lane will be closed from 5am on Saturday until 5am on Sunday.
