A TOURIST pearl diving trip from Ras Raya Port in the Muharraq Governorate was launched by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).
The first-of-its-kind initiative is in line with both the BTEA’s long-term strategy to develop the tourism sector and the national plan to revive the pearl industry, said a statement.
The BTEA emphasised that pearl diving trips can only be undertaken through licensed diving centres, with the only starting point being Ras Raya Port.
The authority also stressed that pearl diving activities must be conducted according to regulatory procedures, which allow participants to catch up to 60 oysters on each trip.
Interested parties can obtain a full list of licensed pearl diving centres through the website www.pearldiving.bh.
Participants must buy their tickets from either the website or the tourist office at Ras Raya Port before the start of any pearl diving trip.
