Kuwait City: The Gulf Cup of Nations (Khaleeji 23) has been relocated from Qatar to neighbouring Kuwait.
The move followed an agreement between Saudi’s General Sport Authority President Turki Al-Sheikh and Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzooq Al-Ghanim.
According to Al-Arabiya TV Channel, the two officials reached the agreement following a phone call.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain yesterday withdrew from the Gulf Cup of Nations, which was scheduled to start in Qatar on the 22nd of December.
The relocation of Khaleeji 23 coincides with the decision of the FIFA to lift the ban which was imposed on Kuwaiti sport activities.
