Dubai Metro commuters were stranded this morning after a technical glitch caused the train to halt at Damac Properties metro station.
The trains abruptly stopped in between stations and each interruption lasted for a few minutes to nearly half an hour, leading to huge crowds forming at the platforms.
There were delays encountered at a number of pick-up points, including Burjuman, Noor Bank and First Abu Dhabi Bank, forcing the unloading of passengers at various stops.
Passengers reported that the red line of Dubai’s main transportation link, which runs between Rashidiya and UAE Exchange, stopped working at approximately 8.05 am or 8.10 am.
After waiting inside for a few minutes, passengers were asked to vacate the train.
While some commuters waited at the platform, many chose to take taxis to reach their destinations.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that there were delays on the Dubai Metro, but it clarified that the services were restored within minutes.
