Dubai: The authorities in the United Arab Emirates have today withdrawn French-manufactured milk (Infants Formula) for being contaminated with salmonella.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment removed the contaminated products from shelves today.
It sent a circular in this regard to Ministry of Health, the federal departments in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and the local authorities in the emirates, urging them to ensure hospitals and pharmacies are free from Salmonella-infected products, according to Albayan.
France had recalled several baby formula milk and baby food products made by French dairy giant Lactalis after the discovery of salmonella bacteria, consumer protection agency DGCCRF said in a statement.
The recall follows 20 cases of salmonella infection in infants in France during early December, which had already prompted a limited recall of 12 Lactalis products.
The recall includes products for export, including to China, Taiwan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Morocco, Lebanon, Sudan, Romania, Serbia, Georgia, Greece, Haiti, Colombia and Peru.
