AN internationally acclaimed entrepreneurship summit will be held in Bahrain today.
Seedstars Middle East and North Africa (Mena) will bring together hundreds of investors, entrepreneurs and mentors.
It is being organised by Seedstars, a Swiss-based international investment company, in partnership with CH9, and with the support of the Economic Development Board (EDB), Start-up Bahrain, Tamkeen and the US embassy in Manama.
It will be held in CH9, which is located in The Lagoon, in Amwaj Islands, starting at 11.30am, and is open for public registration at the gate.
Seedstars holds more than 80 competitions every year, giving start-ups the opportunity to pitch their ideas. Winners receive the opportunity to attend the final summit.
After holding various competitions for start-ups throughout the Mena region, the event will see its closing summit in Bahrain, where winning start-ups will come together to showcase their business, with a chance for participants to meet investors, and gain knowledge from experienced and skilled mentors and speakers.
It aims to empower the local entrepreneurship ecosystem, by giving participants the opportunity to network and share valuable knowledge with each other.
EDB managing director Dr Simon Galpin, who is a speaker at the summit, hailed the rapid development of the region’s information and communications technology sector.
“The GCC must capitalise on this momentum and help tech-focused entrepreneurs to develop their ideas. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the start-up ecosystem that we have here in Bahrain, which offers an ideal base for start-ups from all over the region to test out their new products and services.” he said in a statement.
“Events such as Seedstars Mena Summit play a key role in encouraging innovation across the region.
“We are delighted to be supporting the summit and we look forward to seeing its positive impact on start-ups and entrepreneurs.”
