Riyadh: Hollywood star John Travolta arrived in Riyadh on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia.
The 63-year old actor, best known for his starring role in Saturday Night Fever and Grease, will feature in a live show on his rise to fame.
Theme “Night with John Travolta”, the event will be hosted tonight (December 15) at the APEX Centre for Conferences and Exhibition (Convention Centre) in Riyadh.
The General Entertainment Authority is hosting the programme during which the audience will be given a chance to interact with the star.
The actor attended several events and visited main tourism, heritage and leisure sites in Riyadh, reported Al Sabq.
This landmark visit followed the decision announced a few days ago to lift a 35-year ban on cinemas and allow the opening of movie-theatres next year.
Saudi Arabia’s main sovereign wealth fund signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with AMC Entertainment Holdings - a US-based major movie exhibition company and one of the largest movie exhibition firms in the world with about 1,000 theaters and 11,000 screens across the globe.
The US IMAX Corporation is also planning to open 20 world-standard cinemas in Saudi Arabia over the coming three years.
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) said Saudi that Arabia’s cinema space is valued at US$1 billion.
