THE Bahrain under-16 national team will leave for the UAE on January 4 to take part in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Western Region Tournament to be held from January 7 to 12.
Cricket Bahrain Association is under the auspices of Bahrain Olympic Committee and its president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Bahrain is grouped with Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iran with the top two teams qualifying for the semi-finals to be held on January 11 while the final is set for the next day at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Matches consists of 35 overs each.
The 14 members of the squad, captained by Jagan Vijayakumar, have been honing their skills in daily training sessions at Cricket Bahrain Association’s ground in Isa Town under the watchful eyes of president Saleem Elias, manager Omran Ghani and coaches Azeem-ul-Haq and Awad Sher.
The team is sponsored by Dadabhai Travel and Royal Bahrain Hospital.
