The First High Criminal Court sentenced a former crane operator to three years in prison for selling seized vehicles for scrap.
A young Bahraini reported to the Traffic Directorate that he saw a person riding his motorcycle shortly after it had been seized for speeding.
Investigations revealed that five more Bahraini and Saudi vehicles were missing and that the suspect, who used to be in charge of moving the impounded vehicles from the parking area at the Traffic Directorate to Alba parking space, had sold the vehicles and the motorcycle for scrap. The scrapyard owner also testified that the suspect told him there was no need to provide documents for he was responsible for the vehicles.
The suspect, who worked for the Traffic Directorate from 2004 to 2014, tried to deny the case pretending his boss had ordered him to keep the vehicles in Alba’s parking space until owners come to collect them, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
