Cinemas will reopen their doors for children in Saudi Arabia on Friday ending a three-decade ban.
The city of Jeddah will be the first to show children movies marking the mid-school holidays.
The Culture and Arts Society will be showing “The Emoji Movie” and and “Captain Underpants” from Friday until Wednesday (Jan 17).
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) will also be screening three films for kids at its headquarters as part of an entertainment programme which starts on January 18 and concludes on January 31. The programme includes Smurfs, The Son of Bigfoot and Paddingtion.
The films are part of a programme launched by the Saudi Entertainment Authority under the slogan “Don’t even think to travel”, targeting school children during the holidays.
