CATEGORIES for the next edition of Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work, to be held in April 2018, was discussed by a purpose-formed advisory committee.
Abdulrahman Askar, general secretary of the award ceremony organisers – the Bahrain Olympic Committee – chaired the second meeting to review additional ideas and conditions for the award.
The committee includes sports representatives at local Arabic newspapers – Majed Al Aradi, Mohammed Lori, Abbas Al A’ali, Majed Sultan, Salman Al Haiki, Aqeel Al Sayed and Ahmed Kareem.
They also discussed the criteria for selection of judges, participants and media representatives, who have not been honoured in the last three editions of the award.
Launched in 2012, the award is named after Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, second vice-chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and BOC honorary president.
Last year the award ceremony was held at Sofitel Hotel in Zallaq where 76 sports personnel were honoured in appreciation of their contributions to sports in their respective posts. The award is patronised by Representative of His Majesty for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa
