Bahrain’s national jiu jitsu team excelled at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu Jitsu World Tour fourth leg held in the UAE.
Bahrain team members won four medals – three gold and one silver – against some of the world’s best jiu jitsu players competing in different weight levels at the Mubadala Arena.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar welcomed the team members at a reception ceremony hosted by the committee in Seef.
He commended the performance of the team at this major International event, especially young players Mohammed Abu Edees, Mohammed Ghareeb, Soghra Mubarak and Mariam Al Hayki, who succeeded in reaching the podium.
“We were extremely proud over the impressive results of our players, which proves the advanced level of Bahraini jiu jitsu players at regional and international competitions,” said Askar.
“This achievement will motivate us to strive for more accomplishmetnts in the future.”
On their part, the Bahrain team members thanked the significant role of the committee and vowed to continue their quest for more successes in the future.
