Parliament session has got under way with just 21 MPs out of 40 attending.

A number of members boycotted the weekly meeting in protest over last week's increase in fuel prices.

However, two MPs have officially apologised for their absence as they are overseas.

The session is being led by parliament first vice-chairman Ali Al Aradi.

However, a live broadcast of the session on YouTube was briefly halted due to heated arguments between MPs on the price hike.

Members were seen shouting and trading insults on the floor of the house.

A number of MPs used mistakes in transcripts of last week's session as an excuse to repeat their concerns over the price hike issue.
