Dramatic CCTV has revealed exactly how a car ended up wedged in the second storey of a California dental office after pictures of the crash baffled the internet.
Footage taken at 6.21am in Santa Ana, California, shows the vehicle speeding across an intersection before hitting a road divider.
It can then be seen sailing through the air for a brief moment before smashing into the side of the office building, where it got stuck.
The footage was recorded on CCTV camera at the nearby Aqua Motel before being uploaded by Fox News.
One passenger managed to escape but the other became trapped and had to be freed by rescue workers before being taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators told the LA Times that the white Nissan Altima was speeding which it struck a centre meridian, causing it to became airborne.
The driver later admitted taking narcotics, the Times said, but did not name the drug in question.
The crash caused a small fire at the point of impact, on the second floor, which was quickly extinguished.
Then the rescue team went to work, to get that other individual safely out of the vehicle.
'USAR was able to access the passenger door,' a spokesman said.
'They used a front loader from the city of Santa Ana to stablize the vehicle and the members of USAR were able to gain access and pull the vicitm out from the passenger side of the vehicle safety.'
The two individuals involved in the crash have yet to be identified. No one was in the building at the time of the crash.
