BRITISH Club ‘A’ registered a crucial 20-11 victory over Bahrain Rugby Football Club (BRFC) ‘A’ during the latest week of action in the DHL Bahrain Netball League.
British Club ‘A’ used a strong second quarter performance to turn a 5-3 lead to a comfortable 14-5 advantage at the half. They then managed to hold the gap at 15-7 after the third period before closing out the nine-goal victory in the final canto.
Wing attack Jessica Chapman was named the Player of the Match for British Club ‘A’, while goal shooter Imogen Sheridan was selected as her team’s top performer.
It was a different result for both clubs in a match-up between their ‘C’ teams.
BRFC ‘C’ overcame a tough challenge from British Club ‘C’ 16-9 in their tightly contested clash.
Lead
The victors quickly went ahead 7-2 at the end of the first quarter and then 11-5 at the break. They continued to enjoy a healthy lead at 14-8 heading into the fourth quarter, when they did well to secure the result.
Goal shooter Kate Fellowes was adjudged as the Player of the Match for the victorious BRFC ‘C’, while Carol Woodrow was the best player from her side in the loss.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Club came away with a narrow 14-12 win over BRFC ‘C’.
Sri Lanka were a goal behind, 4-5, at the end of the opening period but they managed to turn things around by the half when they took their own one-goal lead, 7-6.
They then managed to extend their lead to 11-8 at the end of the third quarter before doing just enough in the fourth to secure the win.
Wing defence Aruni Motha and goal attack Elligh Sissons were named the players of the match of their respective squads.
