Four herbal-based medical products have been banned in Oman on health grounds.
The Ministry of Health issued a statement prohibiting Shark Extract Tablets, Vimax Capsules, Kamagra Oral Jelly and Dragon's Delay Spray.
It warned against using the products for containing life-threatening chemicals which may lead to a heart attack or even death.
“Laboratory tests conducted on the banned products showed chemical substances which are not mentioned in the composition of drug formulation or in the leaflet attached to the product”, warned the ministry
General Director of Pharmacy and Drug Control Dr. Mohammed Al Rubaie described the herbal scam as commercial fraud, as manufacturers assure the public that these products are natural herbals.
“The chemical added in three of these products is sildenafil which is considered one of the most dangerous types of fraud in medicine," said Dr. Mohammed Al Rubaie in a statement reported by times of Oman.
“If the substance is taken by heart patients who use other drugs containing nitrates, they may suffer severe drop in blood pressure, conducive to a heart attack and even to death," Dr. Mohammed added.
