Gulf debut for Saudi artist’s film

A SHORT film, Wake Me Up, will have its first public screening in the Gulf next month at the Seventh Wave Performing Arts School.

The film is by Saudi director Reem Sameer Al Bayyat, who is also a photographer, digital artist and fabric designer. All her films have been screened at regional and international film festivals and Wake Me Up took home 10 nominations around the world and two awards for Best Director in the Madrid and Milan film festivals.

Wake Me Up is a story about a woman, Salam, who is experiencing a mid-life crisis and as she tries to revive her artistic hobby she feels judged by society. The Arabic film has English subtitles. The show will begin at 7pm and tickets are available at the school in Saar. Call 38071777 or 17537567.
