Riyadh: The Ritz-Carlton reopened for business Sunday, three months after it was transformed into a luxurious detention centre holding dozens of princes, businessmen and officials swept up in an anti-corruption purge.
A hotel receptionist reached by phone confirmed to AFP that the hotel was open to the public. Another source inside the hotel said the property had no detainees.
Many of the suspects, including billionaire Prince Al Waleed bin Talal have been released in recent weeks in exchange for what officials have dubbed financial settlements.
Total settlements with the suspects had topped $107 billion in various forms of assets handed over that included property, securities and cash, Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al Mojeb said.
The hotel was accepting reservations on Sunday, with prices starting at $665 a night.
The hotel's executive chef has created a new menu this week for its restaurants, with a "grand buffet" planned next weekend around its large indoor swimming pool, Arab News daily reported.
