Inquiry launched into fourth-grade student’s death

The Ministry of Education set up a committee to investigate the death of student Isa Thamer Al Blooshi, Alanba reported.

Nine-year-old Isa, a heart patient, reportedly died after his Arab teacher scolded him.

Education Minister Hamed Al Azmi visited Amro ibn Al-Ala’as Primary School for Boys and announced the suspension of the teacher pending investigation.

The probe committee includes officials from the Ministry of Health and the Legal Opinion and Legislation Commission.

School principal Zuha Al Sahu, her assistants and social councilors denied reports claiming that the Maths teacher had assaulted the fourth-grade student.

Meanwhile, a security source said that an inquiry conducted by the criminal investigation directorate revealed that the boy had died of natural causes.

The medical records show that the child had undergone three open-heart surgeries.
