Kuwait's Civil Service Commission (CSC) has announced a cap on the age of foreign workers in Kuwait, Al Rai newspaper reported.
It directed all ministries and government departments to terminate the contracts of expatriates who have reached the age of 65.
Ministries, government departments and public enterprises are still allowed to rehire the same expatriate where work needs dictate.
The new measure will reduce the end of service premiums which are paid by government departments to their non-Kuwaiti employees.
CSC regulations do not entitle the rehired employees end-of-service benefits.
Sources said that the new measure would apply to legal advisors working with ministries, except those under contract with the Ministry of Justice and the Directorate of Legal Opinion and Legislation.
