Dubai: The anti-narcotics squads succeeded in busting a major drug trafficking trade in Dubai in an undercover police operation.
The police arrested a smuggler and seized 283 kilogrammes of amphetamine pills and 20 kgs of methamphetamines.
“The anti-narcotic squads raided a hotel room in Dubai and seized the haul of drug”, said Anti-drug trafficking director brigadier Eid Thani Hareb.
The smuggler works as a cloth merchant to hide his illicit drug trafficking activities.
He smuggles prohibited pills, methamphetamines, and other psychotropic substances by concealing them in consignments of imported cloth from his country of origin, in cooperation with his brother who lives abroad.
The police uncovered his criminal activities, after receiving a tip-off, and caught him in possession of the drug in an undercover operation.
The officers found another quantity of drugs in the car he used in his trafficking activities.
