THE Bahrain Premier League (BPL) enters a decisive stage today with the six teams in the fray beginning to battle for survival.
BPL is the first-ever franchise-based Twenty20 cricket tournament to be organised in Bahrain – by Exelon and KHK Sports under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman and Bahrain Athletics Association president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
It began on February 23 with three matches, starting simultaneoulsy at 8am every Friday at three different venues in Isa Town.
So far the six teams have played three matches each and today’s results will have a strong bearing in the final league standing as the top four teams progress to the semi-finals to be held on March 9. The final is sceduled for March 16.
Awan Warriors, Four Square Challengers and Kalaam Knight Riders are on four points from two victories each.
But the Warriors top the table with a better net run rate while the Challengers are second and Knight Riders third.
Bahrain Super Giants, Intex Lions and S Ram M Ram Falcons are on two points with a victory each.
