The decomposed body of a whale washed up on the shores of Al Rams region in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, Al Bayan newspaper reported.
Citizens spotted the huge mammal on the Al Rams shore 12 kilometres to the north of Ras Al Khaimah city and alerted the authorities.
The 9-metre long marine animal is believed to belong to Bryde's species, known as "tropical whale".
Scientists say that it’s the only baleen whale species that lives all year-round in warmer waters near the equator.
