For many years, a lady I knew as Zarah, stood outside the Yateem Mosque in Manama selling boxes of tissues. From at least the mid 1990s in all weathers.
All I know about her is, I believe, she came from Kashmir and was a widow from the time I first met her with two young daughters. That was around 1992.
An extremely ladylike person with impeccable English.
Both my husband and I looked out for her and donated what we needed to.
Traffic permitting, Zarah and I would give each other a quick hug.
Now for a long time we have not seen her.
Would someone please let me know, if possible, if she is OK?
The GDN did publish an article on her many years ago, so I’m sure a letter to the GDN would be permissible.
It may seem negligent on my part not to have tried to trace her for a long time.
Sadly, I rarely go to Manama, and have not done for sometime.
Although Zarah was often in my thoughts.
Kind thoughts and wishes to you Zarah and your girls if you read this letter.
