The operations at Barka desalination plant continues to be affected by the "Red Tide" situation near Barka, said the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW).
The Central Emergency Committee urged all measures to be taken to ensure that the residents of Seeb and Dhakilyah are not affected by any shortage of water.
A PAEW statement urged the residents of Seeb and Dhakilyah to rationalise their water consumption until the desalination plant resumes normal operations.
The authorities sought to allay fears, saying that fishing will not be affected off the coast of Barka because of the red tide.
“The clarification came in the wake of an emergency meeting called by Public Authority for Electricity and Water to discuss the algal blooming in the sea off Barka,” according to Times of Oman.
