Kuwait has been ranked as the 17th most lucrative country for expatriates with an annual average income of $123,000.
An HSBC survey which included a sample of 28,000 expats from 159 countries in the world, ranked Kuwait as the fourth most lucrative for foreign workers in the Arab world.
Mumbai, India's financial capital, came at the top when it comes to expat salaries, with average annual earnings of $217,165, which is more than double the global expat average of $99,903.
The survey ranked Dubai as the most lucrative in the Arab region and 11th worldwide, with an average of $138,2000.
The Qatari capital, Doha, ranked second in the Arab region and the 15th most lucrative for expatriates with $131,400. It is followed by the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, which ranked third in the Arab region and 16th in the world.
The Saudi capital, Riyadh, came fifth in the Arab region and 22nd worldwide with an average of $116,700, followed by Muscat, Oman, where expatriates earn on average $113,700 per annum.
The HSBC survey ranked Manama and Cairo eighth and ninth in the Arab region with annual average income for expats of $88,800 and $81,900, respectively.
Mumbai outdid leading Asian destinations like Shanghai (4th), Jakarta (8th) and Hong Kong (9th) for the top spot. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur did not even feature in the top 15.
