Bahrain Cinema Club: Tale of two homeless brothers

A KURDISH comedy-drama, Bekas, will be screened at the Bahrain Cinema Club in Juffair tonight, at 7pm.

The 2012 film revolves around two homeless brothers – Dana, aged 10, and Zana, aged seven – who live on the edge of survival.

One day, they catch a glimpse of Superman through a hole in the wall at the local cinema.

They decide to go to America and live with Superman who, they think, can solve all their problems, make their lives easy and punish everyone who has been mean to them.

They set off on their donkey, named Michael Jackson, and Zana starts making a list of all the people he is going to tell Superman to punish.

Directed by Karzan Kader, the film won a People’s Choice Award and was nominated for the Muhr Arab Award at the 2012 Dubai Film Festival.
