Firemen conducted a drill at a Juffair hotel yesterday to test their equipment as well as the department’s readiness to respond quickly in case of an emergency.
Similar exercises will be held in several parts of the country, the Civil Defence director general said.
The firefighters taking part in the exercise-trained on putting out a fake hotel blaze said the Civil Defence director-general.
“The drill aimed at assessing the building safety systems as well as civil defence response and readiness to conduct firefighting operations at high-rise buildings.
A series of drills which will be conducted countrywide, as part of a pre-emptive plan to deal with emergencies, consolidate high-rise building safety measures and carry out evacuation operations.
