Ettihad shocked Riffa with a 2-1 victory while East Riffa drew 1-1 with Al Ahli in the 14th week of the Bahrain NBB First Division Football League played at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town last night.
The second victory for Ettihad this season has raised their hopes of remaining in the first division league with more successes in the upcoming games. They are still at the bottom of the table with 10 points, two adrift of Al Ahli.
Riffa, on the other hand, remained with 13 points and are in danger of being in the relegation zone in the next few weeks.
Ettihad shocked Riffa with two quick goals in the first 15 minutes of the match. The first goal was scored in the third minute by Mohammed Abdulwahab, followed by Mahmood Al Bannai’s goal in the 13th minute.
Riffa reduced the margin just two minutes before the half time, through Mohammed Al Waked.
In the second match, Al Ahli scored first in the 10th minute through Hussain Salman. East Riffa equalised just three minutes later through Sami Al Hussaini.
Al Ahli now have 12 points, two ahead of bottom-placed Ettihad, while East Riffa have 15 points.
