Book: Still Me
Author: Jojo Moyes
As a huge fan of author Jojo Moyes, I eagerly opened a copy of her latest book Still Me.
Published in January, the story continues with main protagonist Louisa Clark as she moves to New York to start a new life.
Still Me is the latest and third title in the story of Louisa whom readers first met in Me Before You, which was not only a massive hit in print but also on the big screen.
The first book was followed by After You, which continued to follow Louisa as she dealt with her grief after Will’s death.
This latest instalment is what Moyes fans have been waiting for as Louisa has moved forward from her grief, has put her life back together again and is open to new opportunities.
Though I loved this book, it didn’t resonate with me in the way Me Before You did, which was a breath-taking story.
I carried on reading the sequels because Moyes tells a fabulous romance story and once you start, it’s hard to put her novels down.
If you haven’t read the other two novels, then I highly recommend you do before picking up Still Me as there are key points in the narrative which won’t mean as much to you if you haven’t read the books in order.
In Still Me, Louisa’s promise to Will, her love from book one, leads her to saying yes to new opportunities and this leads her leaving England and her boyfriend Sam for New York City.
She goes to work as an assistant for a Polish lady, the wife of an extremely rich man, and enjoys charity balls and expensive clothes, though this puts a huge strain on her relationship with Sam.
As Louisa begins to mix with high society, she crosses paths with a young man who brings with him a whisper of her past.
Moyes never fails to construct an emotive narrative that will absorb you into its pages from start to finish.
I recommend a Moyes novel for your poolside or weekend reading lists.
