Manama: Two leading Bahrainis featured among the top 100 most powerful personalities in the Arab World for 2018.

Gulf Business ranked Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat Chief Executive Officer Mahmood Hashim Al-Kooheji ranked 42nd on its Arab Power List 2018.

The Gulf Business survey also ranked Kanoo Group Chairman Mishal Kanoo 61, describing him as “one of the region’s most capable business leaders, but also one of its most proactive.”

The magazine said that Mumtalakat continued its track record of making smart investments throughout 2017, joining investment firm Arcapita in acquiring a 90 per cent stake in NAS United Healthcare Services, among others.

“Under the watchful eye of Al Kooheji the SWF also made some clever partnerships, including one with Mueller Industries and Cayan Ventures to establish the first regional copper tube manufacturing facility in Bahrain – scheduled to start operations this year and create hundreds of local jobs”, it said, stressing his pivotal and impressive role since taking over five years ago as Mumtalakat CEO.

Gulf Business stressed Mishal’s role in restructuring the Kanoo family-owned business in 2017, launching two new investment ventures – KAAF Investments and Kanoo Capital.
